Our Sunday Evening Cruise is a 2-Hour sightseeing tour from Greenwich Pier. The cruise operates every Sunday during May, June, July, August & September. The route usually travels from Greenwich towards Central London, cruising as far as time & tide allow.

Below is a list of the landmarks & sights we usually pass on our Sunday Evening Cruise. Please note that the cruise route can vary from week to week & may not cover all of the landmarks listed below.

The Old Royal Naval College is Sir Christopher Wren’s riverside masterpiece, built in the 17th Century as the Royal Hospital for Seamen on the site of the Tudor Palace of Placentia. The Old Royal Naval College boasts beautiful surroundings & some of the most magnificent interiors in London. The Painted Hall in King William Court is home to the largest painted ceiling in Europe, a Baroque masterpiece by Sir James Thornhill depicting over 300 years of English aristocracy & British Naval Power. The Chapel of St Peter & St Paul in Queen Mary Court has a beautiful interior designed by James ‘Athenian’ Stewart. Visitors to the Old Royal Naval College can enjoy tours of the Painted Hall & the grounds & visit the cafe & gift shop located in King William Court.

The Royal Observatory Greenwich was founded in 1675 by King Charles II. The Observatory sits on the hill in Greenwich Park and is the location of the Historic Prime Meridian (Greenwich Meantime). The Royal Observatory is also home to the Greenwich Time Ball which has marked 13:00 Greenwich Meantime everyday since 1833.

Visit the last remaining tea clipper, Cutty Sark. Originally built at Dumbarton, Scotland in 1869 she spent her working life transporting cargo including tea from China and wool from Australia. She has now been fully restored and is an award winning visitor attraction.

St. Katharine Dock was constructed by Thomas Telford & opened in 1828. The docks became popular with expensive cargo’s from around the world including ivory, shells, sugar, marble, wines, fragrant spices & perfumes. Today St. Katharine’s is a haven for yachts & historic vessels including traditional Thames sailing barges. A wide range of cafes, bars & restaurants are located at St. Katharine’s & regular food markets also take place throughout the week.

The Tower of London takes its name from the White Tower which was constructed in around 1078 by William the Conqueror. Over the last 900 years the Tower of London has served a number of uses including a fortress, armoury, royal palace, royal mint, treasury, menagerie, prison & more recently the home to the crown jewels. The Tower is guarded by the Yeoman Warders who were formed by King Henry VII in 1485.

The Cannon Street Railway Bridge was designed by Sir John Hawkshaw for the South Eastern Railway. The bridge was completed 1866 at a cost of £193,000.

Le Globe Theatre de Bankside est une réplique authentique d'un théâtre du XVIe siècle. Des pièces de Shakespeare sont régulièrement jouées et des visites guidées du théâtre sont également disponibles. Le bar-restaurant Swan du Globe sert le petit-déjeuner, le déjeuner, le dîner et un « Thé de l'après-midi du rêve des nuits d'été » inspiré des personnages des pièces de Shakespeare.

Le Millennium Bridge relie Bankside sur la rive sud à la ville de Londres au nord. Le pont a ouvert ses portes en juin 2000 et a reçu son surnom de « pont bancal » après qu'un mouvement de balancement inattendu l'a fait fermer. Après presque deux ans de modification, le pont a rouvert.

La centrale électrique de Bankside a été conçue par Sir Giles Gilbert Scott et construite en deux étapes entre 1947 et 1963. La centrale électrique a fermé en 1981 et abrite aujourd'hui l'un des plus grands musées d'art moderne et contemporain au monde, la Tate Modern.

Il y a eu plusieurs cathédrales sur le site de Saint-Paul datant de 604 après JC. Le plus remarquable d'entre eux était la cathédrale construite par les Normands entre 1087 et 1240. Le Norman St. Pauls était le plus grand bâtiment de l'Angleterre médiévale, il a duré près de 600 ans, survivant à la Réforme et à la guerre civile anglaise. En août 1666, Christopher Wren finalisa les plans de restauration de la cathédrale, bien qu'un peu plus d'une semaine plus tard, St Pauls fut détruit dans le grand incendie de Londres. La construction de la nouvelle cathédrale a commencé en 1675 et a duré 33 ans. La nouvelle cathédrale a été consacrée le 2 décembre 1667 et existe toujours aujourd'hui. St. Pauls est ouvert pour la prière sept jours sur sept, les touristes peuvent visiter la cathédrale du lundi au samedi.

Le Savoy Hotel a été construit par Richard D'Oyly Carte et a ouvert ses portes en 1889. Le Savoy s'est avéré populaire auprès des touristes et a été le premier hôtel en Grande-Bretagne à utiliser des ascenseurs électriques et à être entièrement éclairé par un éclairage électrique. Le Savoy possède de nombreux bars et restaurants et est adjacent au Théâtre Savoy.

Le HQS Wellington est un Sloop de classe Grimsby lancé en 1934. Il a escorté des convois dans l'Atlantique Nord tout au long de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Elle est maintenant amarrée en permanence sur Victoria Embankment et est la salle des livrées de l'Honorable Company of Master Mariners.

L'Aiguille de Cléopâtre a été érigée à Héliopolis vers 1450 av. L'aiguille avait déjà plus de 1 300 ans lorsque Cléopâtre est devenue reine. L'aiguille a été présentée au Royaume-Uni en 1818 pour commémorer les victoires militaires britanniques lors de la bataille du Nil et de la bataille d'Alexandrie, mais elle n'a été déplacée à Londres qu'en 1877.

À 135 mètres de haut, le London Eye est la plus grande roue d'observation en porte-à-faux au monde. Le London Eye a été conçu par Marks Barfield Architects et lancé en 2000 en tant qu'attraction temporaire. Le London Eye est rapidement devenu l'une des attractions payantes les plus populaires au monde avec plus de 3,5 millions de visiteurs chaque année. Par temps clair, la visibilité peut atteindre 40 km, ce qui permet de voir le château de Windsor et le pont Queen Elizabeth II à Dartford.

Today County Hall is home to the Sea Life London Aquarium, London Dungeon, Namco Arcade, hotels, restaurants, private apartments & conference & event spaces.

Known as the ‘Houses of Parliament’, the new palace was built between 1840-1870 after the original palace was damaged during a fire. The palace is the home of UK Parliament & the iconic Elizabeth Tower (known as Big Ben).

Our 2-Hour Sunday Evening Cruises are just £10.00 per adult, £8.00 for concessions & £6.00 for children. We depart Greenwich Pier (Cutty Sark) for a 2-Hour round trip with indoor & outdoor seating, heating, a fully licensed bar & toilet facilities.
